1. Riverside
“See an old man, yer sure that he died, walked right in, left his trainers at the side”
2. 1879
“I met some ghosts on that Southeast coast, one of them old and the other a child”
‘Riverside’ is the dark tale of a suicide spot and starts off with Zombie-movie moans. It’s a pummelling Blues tune that takes all the most evil parts from The Cramps, Soledad Brothers and Captain Beefheart.
The vocals on ‘1879’ bring to mind Jim Morrison at his most raw and it sounds like they’ve also got Ray Manzarek in to play some slinky Organ parts. It doesn’t quite match up to ‘Riverside’ but it makes a worthy B-side.
