THE MULES – We’re Good People (12″ & 7″ Singles)

Kartel KART015 / KART019: 26th March 2007
1. We’re Good People (Original / CSS Remix / Lights’ Odd Times Remix)
“Let’s not quicken to divorce, what we wanted, what we thought, I know you think me overwrought, I know you think I really ought to… sing!”
2. Problems With Exits
“I bet you can’t wait to leave me to my fate, I thank you for trying all the same”

This is the first Mules release I’ve chanced upon since 2005’s superb ‘Polly-O’ single. I bought it for the ‘CSS Remix’ but all four tracks are fantastic. ‘We’re Good People’ is a jaunty Punk-Funk meets Horror movie soundtrack single with shades of Talking Heads and Whirlwind Heat. Adriano Cintra from CSS (Cansei De Ser Sexy) contributes a crunching Electronic remix complete with insanely catchy Tabla drums. Lights’ version has the eerie sound of Justice creating a nervous Remix while sleeping over in Dracula’s castle. Lastly, ‘Problems With Exits’ is like Bobby Conn singing about the time he wondered the rainy streets of Paris, stopping off at a Gypsy camp, a Jazz bar and a Pirate tavern.
