EXAMPLE – So Many Roads (2x CD & 7″ Singles)

The Beats BEATS52/BEATS53/BEATS51: 3rd September 2007
1. So Many Roads (Original / Herve Remix / So Much Of Life Ahead Remix /
Jars & Ruski Toilet Party Remix / Baseball Furies Remix)

“Up bright and early, I head first into the calm breeze, it’s just me and my true geez, he play percussion and I scribble on oak trees”
2. Take What I Want
“This ain’t cheap sex, it’s something fresha, one off payment for ‘Lucious Lorreta’, fellas let’s get your shit together, blow up ladies are getting better”

The latest irresistible single from Example is built around a gloriously cheesy Carpenters’ sample. ‘So Many Roads’ is a song of self belief about Example and his producer Rusher against the world featuring some typically priceless rhymes.

‘So Many Roads’ has inspired some great reworks. Herve’s Remix is a Rave monster and the repetitive “J-J-J-Jackin’ all those samples” bit will burrow deep down into your brain and make you go crazy. Brutal Deluxe’s ‘So Much Of Life Ahead’ Remix retains little of the original but is still an absolutely essential head-bangin’ tune. The ‘Jars & Ruski Toilet Party Remix’ is even more unrecognisable but this thudding Industrial rework gets tiresome at points. The ‘Baseball Furies Remix’ is a big sleazy masterpiece that almost beats the A-side version and makes the vocals sound harder, sharper and wittier.

‘Take What I Want’ is the best song about blowup sex dolls since Roxy Music’s ‘In Every Dream Home A Heartache’. It’s a great sign for Example’s immanent debut album (Second album, if you count ‘We Didn’t Invent The Remix’) that he’s casting away gems like this on the B-side.

Example – Take What I Want mp3 (Should be an A-side)
Example – You Can’t Rap mp3 (Another great Example single and uncut)
