LOS CAMPESINOS! – We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives / Don’t Tell Me To Do The Math(s) (7″ / Free Download Single)

Wichita WEBB137S: 19th March 2007
1. We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives
“When you play pass the parcel with human body parts, somebody might get head but someone will get hurt”
2. Don’t Tell Me To Do The Math(s)
“I’m stitching up each one of your pockets, so when we are together you’ll maybe look a little less bored”

Much of Los Campesinos!’ unique charm is created by the exciting contrast between the quirky half-spoken male vocals and the angelic perfection of the female vocals. Kind of like if you welded the front of a Bentley onto the back half of a dragster. The music is played with such an infectious energy and with so much Pop fizz that it sounds totally fresh and exciting.

‘We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives’ is about a party that’s so much fun, it could be mistaken at a glance for a massacre “There’s red stains all over the place, they’re not blood, they’re cherryade”. There’s a cheeky reference to Lesley Gore’s hit single ‘It’s My Party’ in there too. “Don’t Tell Me To Do The Math(s)” is a celebration of the exciting, the random, the unexpected and stuff that just doesn’t add up. The melody is totally irresistible and I love the way the line “Tonight we’re gonna smash this place up” is sung as if butter wouldn’t melt.

Los Campesinos! are generously making the single (And the artwork) available to download for free! But I’d get the 7″because you get a super cute fold-out paper-chain of all the band. You can download the single from the bands Website and the MySpace page has two more quality songs.

Click here to buy the 7″.

Here are links to watch the official video for ‘We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives’ and a superb fan video for ‘You! Me! Dancing!’ on YouTube.

  1. I really like them. A lot.

  2. I have to say, I can not agree with you in 100%, but that’s just my opinion, which indeed could be wrong.
p.s. You have an awesome template . Where did you find it?
